Day 02 : Full Day To Explore Fes With Local Guide
After breakfast at your Riad, you’ll meet your local guide and start exploring the city of Fes. Begin at the Royal Palace, built on the same day the new city of Fes was founded. The city is divided into two parts: the old Medina and the new city. Next, visit the Chouara Tannery in the oldest Medina quarter, where sheepskins are tanned and crafted into shoes, accessories, and more. Surrounded by leather shops with terraces, you can look down onto the colorful tannery pits. Continue to the Mellah, the Jewish quarter, home to a 17th-century synagogue. Fes was once home to many Jews for centuries. You’ll also visit the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the world’s oldest university, originally founded as a mosque and later becoming a major spiritual and educational center in the Islamic world.
Then, stroll through the old souks, wander the narrow alleys, and shop for souvenirs. Enjoy lunch in one of the charming streets in the heart of the old city before visiting Moroccan pottery and ceramic workshops, where you can watch master craftsmen create authentic Zellige tiles.
