Day 01 : Fes - Ifrane - Cedarforest - Middle Atlas Mountains - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert
At about 8:00 AM, the team gathers at your Fes accommodation to begin an unforgettable 2-day journey to the Sahara. The first stop is Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco,” with its alpine-style buildings, spotless streets, and status as the world’s second cleanest city. A short drive takes you to the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to playful Barbary macaques perfect for stretching your legs, snapping photos, and soaking in the scenery.
Next is Midelt, nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, famous for its apple orchards and mineral mines, where you’ll pause for a relaxing lunch. The route continues over the Tizi N’Tighamt pass, through Errachidia, and to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the lush Ziz Valley, renowned for its date palms and dramatic vistas. Passing through Erfoud, celebrated for fossils and dates, you arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. At the edge of the dunes, a camel guide leads you on a 1-hour-20-minute trek into the desert, with a magical sunset stop atop a high dune over Erg Chebbi.
Upon arrival at the luxury camp, you’re welcomed with Moroccan tea and sweets before enjoying a flavorful dinner. The night comes alive around a campfire with live Berber and African drumming beneath a sky full of stars, ending with an overnight stay in the luxury desert camp.

After breakfast at camp, head back to the village by camel or in a 4x4, depending on your preference. There, meet your driver and guide for the scenic trip back to Fes, passing once more through the beautiful Ziz Valley with its palm groves and dramatic landscapes. Travel through Errachidia before stopping in Midelt for lunch in this charming town between the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, known for its mineral mines and apple orchards.
Continue through the Cedar Forests of Azrou, where you can spot the famous Barbary macaques in their natural habitat, then make your way to Ifrane, nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine charm, and visit the iconic stone lion statue. End the day in Fes, with drop-off at your accommodation, wrapping up an unforgettable Sahara adventure.
